Gin Rummy Rules
Rummy belongs to a family of closely related games all sharing the "draw and discard" structure. Rummy games also have a scoring system with points and can be played for money which is part of the attractiveness of these games. Other popular variants of Gin Rummy include Kaluki and Oklahoma.
Gin Rummy is a skill game which can be played by 2, 3, or 4 players with one deck of 52 cards. The main objective of the game is to combine the cards in your hand into sets and runs and to get rid of them as soon as possible. A set contains a minumum of 3 cards which share the same value which may be of different suits (e.g. – 10 of spades, 10 of hearts, and 10 of diamonds would consititute a set). A run contains a minimum of 3 cards of consecutive values but these may be of the same suit (e.g – 10 of hearts, J of hearts, Q of hearts would sconstitute a run)
Players must begin a turn by drawing a card from the stack or the discard pile, adding it to their hand, and then in order to complete a turn, discarding a card from their hand and placing it on the discard pile. If you wish to place a set or run on the table then you must first pick up a card, place the set / run on the table, and place a card on the discard pile.
