Aquarius is an air sign, of fixed quality and it is ruled by the planet Uranus. Aquarius is represented as the water bearer. Aquarians usually possess strong and likeable personalities and they are driven by humanitarianism and idealism. 

As a result they can be quite political and fight for causes that they believe in. They do go about things in an honest manner and with an open mind, so they will not think anything of changing their minds should they be proved wrong about something.

Aquarians have an ability to emotionally detach from issues however this does not mean that they do not have depth of character, on the contrary. They are very in tune with their surroundings and are very intuitive. Aquarians are very individualistic and believe in equality for everybody. They think in futuristic terms, and they are often interested in bizarre and unconventional topics. Aquarians can be idiosyncratic and contradictory at best and they have a rebellious streak that comes into play when defied.

As much as Aquarians advocate change, they find it hard when this is thrust upon them, however they do not like it when things are stagnant either. Natives of this sign tend to be very sociable, and need constant stimulation and it is common to find that they have plenty of friends that they socialise with. Indeed friendship is of prime importance to them, and even in their more intimate relationships, this is the key for Aquarius to feel fulfilled.
