Cancer is a water sign, symbolised by the crab and ruled by the Moon. People born under this sign are usually noted for their sensitivity and have a nurturing side that explains their need to take care of things, whether this is a business, object, or those who are nearest and dearest. In women this is seen as having strong maternal instincts, which they express to all those that they love. Cancerians are highly emotional people and have a knack for making others feel extra special.

Just like crabs, natives of this sign can sometimes be perceived to have a tough exterior, as they have a need protect their vulnerable core with a coat of armour. Cancerians can also be quite moody or changeable, many times for no apparent reason. They are very intuitive by nature and have a very powerful imagination, many times prone to fantasy. Since they keep their feelings under wraps, they can be seen as being quite down to earth although at times they are prone to be over emotional and over react.  In their personal relationships they are a mixture of toughness and softness, many times being emotional and romantic to the point of being sentimental and soppy in their fantasies . But in reality, their love is strong and tenaciously loyal.

Cancerians are complete home bodies and are mostly concerned with security, be it material or emotional, and will not let anyone in unless they are prepared. They are family creatures and their “nest” is of prime importance to them. They are great collectors and have an excellent memory for details, especially for those emotionally laden moments which they will recall for years later.
